A new game has just been released, SteamWorld Dig 2 by Image and Form Games. This one brings back some memories of their first SteamWorld Dig, with the mining and adventures going through caves finding treasure and avoiding traps. However, the only difference is that Rusty is missing. It's up to the hero, which is this darling little female bot, Dorothy to help find Rusty.
Of course, the gameplay is quite the same and you will enjoy the easy to control movements.
As Dorothy, you move her with the arrow keys or the mini joystick on the game system. The touchscreen doesn't need to be touched while playing the game but is used for viewing the map and items and coins collected. The style and background of the game are very nicely designed, like a work of art! It sort of reminds me of the down south, like a cowboy theme with robots. The music that you hear is calming and relaxing as you play through each awesome area of the game.

I think what is pretty neat with the gameplay, unlike many other games. Is that you can control your little hero, Dorothy and only need to do one thing at a time. There is no jumping and pickaxing any blocks and no climbing or falling and trying to use the pickax at the same time. Instead, you control her to do one task and once done with that, you can do another. So, there will be no difficult moves needed to accomplish at the same time, which makes it quite easy for older and younger players to enjoy.
The upgrades you'll be able to get are pretty neat! They make it easy to move on and dig deeper into the caves to find more treasure and enemies that are trying to stop you. This also makes it difficult to keep you on your path to find out what had happened to Rusty. However, finding this friendly sprite, which you named Fen, found in the first cave can be super helpful and aid you by showing the direction you need to head too, as well as a map.
There are a few dangers that can cause you to lose your life, but many are from traps located in each area of the game, as well as the objects in each area, and of course the enemies. Some of these areas take a little more skill to get through these parts and if you're not careful, it could be costing you your hero's life. However, like any puzzle and adventure game, it will get easier to know what is required of you to move ahead from these sections of the game and discover even more challenges.
Finally, I like to say that SteamWorld Dig 2 is a very nice game, full of challenges and exciting discoveries. It's a type of game I love to play because a platformer isn't as crazy as many 3D games that makes my head feel like it's a whirlwind since I have vertigo. Plus, it's relaxing and a great way to stay entertained for a few hours or more! So with that, all said, I can easily say that this is a perfect game for everyone in the family and the creators did a wonderful job!
